What's Going On At Franklin Heights?
August 31st, 2007 10:19 PM

As most of my clients know, I'm the proud Marketing Director of Franklin Heights Neighborhoods, a neo-traditional residential development on the northwest corner of Towanda Barnes and Ft. Jesse on Normal's east side. Many people call it a subdivision, but it's really a NEIGHBORHOOD... a community within itself.

I moved from Los Angeles in June of 2006 to market this neighborhood and after a year of hard work and pounding the pavement, it's FINALLY starting to take off! My biggest hurdle when I started marketing the neighborhood was people's fears. I heard a lot of "why has it been sitting for so long?" That was the consensus in the Bloomington-Normal community- that it was a stagnant development that wasn't going to to ever take off. Fortunately, there were some optimistic and excited folks out there that bought into the concept of what Franklin Heights will become. So, I started my own custom homebuilding company,Wycoff-Hester Homes, and built their homes. All of those people are either living in Franklin Heights now or eagerly anticipating their move-in date.

So, one year after I became Marketing Director for Franklin Heights, here is what is going on in our neighborhood:

  • We have almost 2 miles of 10 ft. wide trails
  • We have three fully-stocked lakes and are eagerly awaiting the installation of fountains in them.
  • Wycoff-Hester Homes has three homes currently under construction, two more about to begin construction and several signed up for the spring of 2008.
  • We have sold several lots to a builder, who anticipates building four speculation homes soon (call Amanda for details at 309-242-2647).
  • Our commercial area is currently for sale. The theory is that Franklin Heights residents will be able to take the trails to this area and grab a bite to eat, enjoy a beer garden / outdoor cafe, restaurant row and several cute shops similar to Door County.

I feel so strongly that Franklin Heights is THE place to live in Bloomington-Normal that I will be building my personal home there beginning in October. I can't wait!

So, what's going on in Franklin Heights? A LOT!

Call me for details! :)

"How's the Market?"
August 30th, 2007 4:04 PM

As a Realtor I'm continually asked by clients, family & friends if the market is ever going to get better. Today was no different. I was asked that question 3 times today! Questions like these are to be expected, because I am a Realtor and I make my living selling houses. And, of course, with all the "doom and gloom" the media reports about the housing market, I can't blame people for asking me about the "horrible housing market."

Here's my response... I have not noticed that the market is bad. I try not to buy into what the media is reporting about the nationwide housing market depression. From what I have read, locally we are having the 3rd best year in real estate ever. I'm as busy taking care of clients (both sellers AND buyers) as I've always been.

So, to sum it up... It's a GREAT time to buy, sell or build! Give me a call at (309) 242-2647!
